The investment will enable the company to cover 80% of Budapest, making use of the access to local loop, the stretch of line between the telephone center and the client’s set. GTS-Datanet will rent the loop from fixed line giant T-Com and provide its own telephone and internet services. Unlike the current practice, clients will be allowed to choose only ADSL access without having to pay for T-Com telephone service.
The development will also result in launching an internet-based television service in the second half of 2006, Szatmári said.
GTS-Datanet had revenue of more than Ft 11 billion last year, up 10% from 2004. At present the company has 21,000 ADSL clients and over 45,000 telephone subscribers.
