“Finalization of the deal on behalf of the buyer has taken place,” Győző Óvári, the lawyer of Megapolis Media Zrt., told origo.hu today. However, the purchase price is still not public. According to the lawyer, there are two conditions for exercising purchase rights: One is the announcement of the intention, another is paying the price. Both of these have taken place according to Óvári: The announcement on October 15 and the payment on October 28, 15 days after the announcement.
Although Fonyó has reportedly paid for the channel, it is still not clear who is the current owner. On October 15, Zsolt Simon and Yvonne Dederick, who purchased the channel from Pro7Sat1 in 2013, announced they had sold the channel to Hungarian government commissioner for film industry Andrew G. Vajna. Hours after the announcement, Fonyó said he had a pre-purchase option which had been signed by Simon and Dederick at the end of 2013. Simon and Dederick refuted claims by Fonyó, and earlier this week Pro7Sat1 said they did not approve of Fonyó’s pre-purchase option. Andy Vajna said he only has knowledge of having “bought” the channel but “anything could happen”.
