Sales of new homes hit a new low, with only 2,300 sales. Prices of new homes rose by 1% in 2013 but their share remains below 3%. Most of the market concerns resale homes, 30% of which were sold in Budapest, with a further 21.5% in other major cities of the country.
The price of resale homes continued to fall, although at a slower pace, says KSH. Prices were 2.9% lower in 2013 than a year earlier. Nominal prices of resale homes have dropped by 16.6% since 2008 while their real value fell by 32%.
The average price of a resale home was HUF 9.7 mln in 2013 and the price of a resale home in Budapest was HUF 13.6 mln.
