Output also increased on a monthly basis, with seasonally and working-day adjusted construction output 6.9% higher than in March.

The two main construction groups moved in opposite directions in April. Output in the construction of buildings fell 6.2% compared to the same month of the previous year, while civil engineering output increased 13.9%.

Among the divisions of construction, output in the construction of buildings was 11.6% lower than a year earlier. Output in civil engineering rose 19.2%, while output in specialized construction activities, which has the largest weight within the sector, increased 4.4%.

KSH said the expansion in civil engineering was mainly driven by a 47.6% increase in the volume of road and railway construction, which contributed almost 30 percentage points to the performance of the division.

New contracts declined in April compared to the same month of 2025. The volume of new contracts concluded was 4% lower year-on-year. Within this, contracts for the construction of buildings fell 9.3%, while contracts for civil engineering works increased 1.1%.

The end-of-April stock of contracts at construction enterprises was 5.4% higher than a year earlier. Within the total, the volume of contracts for the construction of buildings decreased 4.5%, while the stock of contracts for civil engineering works grew 9.8%.

Despite the April increase, construction output remained lower in the first four months of the year. In January-April, output volume was 2.2% below the level recorded in the same period of 2025.
