Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said yesterday after a meeting of the V4 and EU leaders that western countries in the EU and V4 still cannot agree on how to solve the refugee crisis in Europe. Poland is the only V4 country to vote in favor of the distribution system.
“I do not criticize the other three Visegrád countries, as it is not my task to judge them” Luxembourgʼs Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn said in response to the V4 countries voting against the measure, Hungarian online daily index.hu reported.
“There is a perception in these countries that anything decided in Brussels is a dictum,” he said, adding that “this is not a very accurate mindset, as every member state present in Brussels has the right to contribute to reaching a decision,” index.hu reported.
According to the online daily, the politician added that “in Central European countries there is a perception that people with different skin tone, religion and cultures damage societies, and this evolution quickly needs to be turned around.”
