Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has submitted the nominations for his ten-member cabinet and included them in a letter sent to parliamentary Speaker László Kövér. The PM’s list of the nominated ministers in the new cabinet: Zsolt Semjén as minister without portfolio; János Lázár as minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office; Mihály Varga as national economy minister; Tibor Navracsics as minister of external economy and foreign affairs; Sándor Pintér as interior minister; Csaba Hende as defense minister; László Trocsányi as justice minister; Zoltán Balog as human resources minister; Sándor Fazekas as agricultural minister; and Miklós Seszták as national development minister. Eight of the ten nominees served in the cabinet during the previous parliamentary cycle. Former French ambassador Trocsányi, has been nominated to replace Tibor Navracsics as justice minister while Miklós Seszták of the minor government alliance party KDNP, has been nominated to replace Zsuzsa Németh as national development minister.

Under the legislation passed on Monday, the government will operate with nine ministries altogether. Former Ministry of Justice and public administration will be merged into an independent justice ministry. Ministry of Foreign Affairs was renamed as Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Economy. The Ministry of Regional Development will be replaced by an agricultural ministry. Public administration and regional development is planned to be transferred to the Ministry of the Prime Minister’s Office, the previous secretariat. The expected following dates for establishing the new government are: June 2 when the nominees are introduced to the parliament; June 6 when the nominees take the oath and by June 15 the PM will name all the state secretaries.
