Number of Registered Jobseekers Down 2%

The number of registered jobseekers in Hungary reached 224,961 in December, down 2% from the same month a year earlier, state news wire MTI reports, citing data from the National Employment Service (NFSZ).

The number fell by 1% from November.

The data show 3,415 Hungarians registered as jobseekers for the first time during the month. The total number of new jobseeker registrations, including repeat registrations, reached 31,963.

Around 42% of registered jobseekers received no benefits in December.

About 36% had been seeking work for longer than a year.

Jobseekers were registered for 482 days on average.
