The expansion is intended to prepare the company for the ramp-up and launch of production, relying as much as possible on the local and regional workforce, the company said.

Eve Power Hungary’s HUF 400 billion investment in Debrecen has reached a major milestone. At its 45-hectare site, the company is building a 450,000-square-meter plant that will manufacture battery cells for the BMW Group. Development of production capacity is progressing according to plan, while several areas supporting the start of production and stable operations are set to expand in the coming period.

The company said its long-term goal is to establish a sustainable operation aligned with the dynamically developing industrial environment of the region.

As part of the recruitment campaign launching at the end of January, Eve Power Hungary will primarily seek technicians, engineers, as well as administrative and other support staff. Applications are being accepted mainly from the domestic workforce in the region through the company’s own career website, LinkedIn and job portals.

“Our investment in Hungary has reached an important phase, and in the coming period we will focus on building and strengthening production-related processes. Our goal is to establish stable and predictable operations in Debrecen, and to do so we want to involve professionals who live in the region and wish to work for a technologically advanced company with an international background,” said Zhang Huanting, managing director of Eve Power Hungary Kft.

“During the expansion planned for the first half of 2026, we are looking for technicians, engineers and support staff who want to work in an international-level environment and are open to long-term professional development. There is already significant interest in these positions, and every day we are contacted by potential employees from the region who want to gain experience in the battery industry,” said Tom Rong, HR director of EVE Energy.

Focus on Local Workforce

Hungary’s battery industry, particularly in eastern Hungary, has seen rapid growth in recent years. The Debrecen investment is part of this trend, contributing to the region’s economic development and the spread of modern industrial technologies, the company noted.

Eve Power Hungary said it is a strategic priority to source most of the workforce needed for its expanding capacities from Debrecen and nearby towns.

“From our perspective, 2026 is about partnerships: we are building long-term cooperation in Debrecen and the region that simultaneously creates economic value, provides secure career paths for young people and delivers tangible benefits for local communities,” said the company’s head of government relations, Ádám Kovács.
