The monitoring committee of the VKF, a forum of employers, unions and the government, decided to propose raising the minimum wage for unskilled laborers by 11% and the minimum wage for skilled workers by 7% in 2026, the sides told MTI.
If the proposal is approved, the monthly minimum wage will rise from HUF 290,800 to HUF 322,800 for unskilled laborers and from HUF 348,800 to HUF 373,200 for skilled workers.
László Perlusz, the chief secretary of business association VOSZ, called the agreement a “good compromise”.
Ferenc Rolek, the deputy head of industrial association MGYOSZ, said the deal was “acceptable considering the possibilities”, but added that the increase couldn’t serve as a reference for a higher average wage.
Melinda Mészáros, who heads unions association Liga, called the agreement “a success” that would boost real wages.
