A new political party called Nehezen Élők Pártja (“Party of Those Living with Hardships;” NÉP) has been founded, reports Népszabadság. It was formed in Harasztifalu, a village in Vas County with the population of 160 people only six kilometers from the Austrian border. It is not Hungary’s poorest settlement and its unemployment rate is zero, adds the paper.
The party was initiated by Deputy Mayor Péter Szenkovits. Although has has never been a member of any party before, he thought it was time to show that majority-elected government is politically and economically elite-oriented. The founders of the NÉP aim to prevent a “half dictatorship” from forming, which they think is now threatening the country.
