Hungarian national airline Malév remained the airport’s biggest carrier in terms of passenger numbers, carrying 1.5 million out of a total 3.8 million departing and arriving passengers in the first half of 2006. Malév carried about 100,000 more passengers in the first half year-on-year. Low-cost airline easyJet followed with 314,000 passengers, about 30,000 fewer year-on-year. In third place was German carrier Lufthansa with 287,000 passengers, about 33,000 more year-on-year. Next were low-cost airlines Wizz Air, carrying 135,000 passengers, and Sky Europe, with 134,000 passengers.
