The subsidies rechanneled up to 400,000 truckloads to railways, MÁV said.

MÁV, together with peers CER Hungary, Gysev Cargo, Eurogate Rail Hungary (formerly: Floyd), and Rail Cargo Hungaria signed a framework contract with the government in November 2021 on support for loss-making single-wagonload transport which allows individual wagons from different consignors to be bundled into a single train.

The subsidies come to more than HUF 26 billion for the period 2022-2025.

MVM Magyar Magánvasút joined the subsidy scheme in December 2021 and Train Hungary and Kárpát Vasút in May this year.
