Some 72% of respondents cited parking as the most frustrating aspect of driving, ahead of traffic jams (57%) and rule-breaking motorists (56%). Fueling and handling insurance matters were among the least stressful tasks, while only 6.7% said traffic fines caused significant anxiety.
A key source of parking-related stress is the difficulty of finding available spaces. Nearly three-quarters of respondents — 71% — said searching for parking during the day is the most unpleasant situation. Parking fees and the risk of vehicle damage were also frequently mentioned concerns.
Digital Tools Aim to Ease Frustration
Digital solutions are increasingly helping reduce everyday inconveniences, the company said. A new development for Android Auto allows users to manage parking and start purchasing highway vignettes directly from their car’s display.
“Digital solutions are playing an increasingly important role in ensuring that administrative tasks related to driving do not cause unnecessary stress multiple times a day,” said Gergő Szabó, head of marketing and the Simple business unit. “With the Simple app, drivers have not had to worry for years about having enough coins for parking or finding the right meter. With our new Android Auto development, they do not necessarily even need to take out their phone to start parking.”
After pairing an Android phone with the car’s system, the Simple app can now appear on the vehicle’s display alongside other applications. This allows users to start or stop parking sessions and purchase highway e-vignettes directly through the car interface without downloading a separate app.
Parking Challenges Vary by Location
The survey also found that parking difficulty varies by location. More than half of respondents said it is relatively easy to find parking near their homes, while it poses a greater challenge near workplaces.
At the same time, not all drivers insist on using their cars. Some 52% said they switch to public transportation in certain situations, while 24% said they would definitely leave their car behind if suitable public transit options are available.
