According to a statement from the foreign ministry, the government arranged for the latest flight amid continued unrest in the Middle East, which landed in Budapest the previous night.
“This plane picked up 63 passengers, including 56 Hungarians in Muscat and Riyadh,” Szijjártó said, adding that those Hungarians had originally come from Kuwait, Qatar, and Dubai.
Altogether 1,233 passengers, including 1,105 Hungarian nationals, have been helped leave the Middle East, the statement quoted the minister as saying.
Hungarian military planes were used for three flights, while aircraft were contracted from Flydubai for the other 9. A 13th flight had been planned but was abandoned for a lack of applicants, he added.
Civilian flight services have now been partially restored in the area, Szijjártó said, noting that a daily one or two flights are operating between Dubai and Budapest. He warned that the situation could change for the worse at any time, and all embassies and consular offices in the area continue to be available 24 hours a day.
