The changes are aimed at better serving commuters, students, tourists and passengers traveling to leisure destinations.
On weekdays, tram 1 now runs every three to four minutes during the morning and afternoon peak periods. BKK said the increased frequency is intended to improve access to office buildings in southern Buda and the Kelenföld area.
Bus 187 is also running more frequently on weekday afternoons between Kelenföld and Kamaraerdő, while the morning timetable of bus 87A has been adjusted to better match travel patterns.
In response to growing tourist traffic, bus 216 now operates more frequently between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on weekdays. Services from Deák Ferenc tér toward Buda Castle run every 10 minutes instead of every 15 minutes during that period, using higher-capacity buses.
Bus 253, which connects Kelenföld and Madárhegy and was launched in May, has also gained an additional morning departure.
More Capacity on Selected Routes
BKK is increasing capacity as well as frequency on some services.
On bus route 298 in Rákoscsaba, larger maximidi buses have replaced the previous minibuses, allowing more passengers to board.
Higher-capacity articulated vehicles will also continue operating on bus 26 to Margaret Island and trolleybus 70 through City Park, as they did during the summer period.
BKK said the September changes are intended to better align capacity and timetables with the travel habits of Budapest residents and visitors, while encouraging more people to use public transport.
