Tax office audits target repeat lenders to private individuals

Hungary’s National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) is launching audits of taxpayers who regularly lend money to private individuals, daily Magyar Nemzet said on Thursday. The paper said entrepreneurs who pay themselves minimum wage on paper as well as the owners of companies that have been loss-making for years can also expect to be audited. NAV is ordering more audits this year than earlier, Magyar Nemzet said. NAV has ordered payment of HUF 30 billion in back taxes as the result of audits in the past two years.
