Sales of food, beverages, and tobacco fell 7.6%, while sales of non-food products went down by 7.5%.
Sales of automotive fuel decreased by 1.1%.
At current prices, May retail sales added 5.7% on the year and were 0.4% higher on the month, according to the statistics agency.
