Based on the number of units sold, electrically powered personal transport products have been a big hit at eMAG in 2021 with thousands of people buying them in the first half of the year. The most popular type is the electric scooter, which accounted for 49% of the products sold in this category.
The most popular model in May and June was the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter Essential, which sold for HUF 99,990, but the typical buyer chose an even better equipped model, with the average price of e-scooters sold at eMAG this year being HUF 133,000.
Although they require advanced balancing skills to use, self-balancing hoverboards are also very popular this year, accounting for 39% of sales in the category at eMAG.hu. Demand for hoverboards was highest in March, April, and May.
It is interesting to note that while electric models are clearly the most popular scooter models (foldable kick scooters accounted for only 4% of sales), in the case of bicycles, conventional models are still the most popular, accounting for 98% of all bicycle sales at the company's webshop.
However, on eMAG.hu, the electric scooter is the most popular personal vehicle even if we add sales of conventional bicycles to the electrically powered personal transport products category. This way, electric scooters account for 36% of sales, ahead of hoverboards (29%). Conventional bicycles are only the third most popular (27%).
