Lithuania retail sales rise further in January

Lithuania's retail sales, excluding VAT (value-added tax), increased a working-day adjusted 18.2% year-on-year in January, following a 16.5% rise in December, data from Vilnius-based Statistics Lithuania (LS) showed on Monday.

Sales of non-food stores grew 42% annually in January and those in specialized stores rose 26.2%.

Sales in non-specialized stores and those of food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco decreased 3% and 2.4%, respectively.

On a monthly basis, retail sales fell a seasonally adjusted 2.5% in January.
