The number of orders placed with Hungarian webshops rose 7pc to 83m. Including orders from foreign webshops, orders by Hungarian consumers climbed 32% to 102 million as Chinese e-platforms, such as Temu, gained ground, the research shows.

Hungarians opted for payment on delivery for 59% of their orders.

The data show there were 5,150 parcel lockers in Hungary at the end of April 2024. Around 77pc of those were outside of the capital.
