It was the eleventh consecutive month of contraction in retail activity. Sales decreased mainly for manufactured goods (-11%), remarkably in stores selling via mail order/internet (-23%).
At the same time, decreases were also observed in other non-specialized stores selling predominantly manufactured goods (department stores) (-15%), and stores selling textiles, clothing & footwear (-14%).
On a monthly comparison basis, retail trade increased 0.2% in July, recovering from a 1.6% fall in the previous month.
