It marked the 18th consecutive month of falling retail activity, but the softest drop since November 2022. Sales declined for stores selling via mail order or the internet (-14%), textiles (-5%), second-hand goods & non-store retail sales, i.e. stalls, markets & direct sale (-4%), and computers and their accessories, books, sports equipment, games, toys, etc. (-4%).

By contrast, sales grew for automotive fuel (by 9.1%). On a monthly basis, retail trade fell 4.2% in February, much softer than a 21.7% plunge in January.
