Sales rose for non-food products by 13%, namely textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods (40.4%), pharmaceuticals and medical goods (39%) and computers, peripheral units and software (8.3%).

Sales for food, beverage & tobacco advanced 2.9%.

On a seasonally-adjusted monthly comparison basis, retail trade grew by 1% in December, the same as in the previous month.

In a separate report the Sofia-based agency said that construction output in Bulgaria grew at a slower 1.4% year-on-year in December 2021, from a 3.2% rise in the previous month, as building construction eased (3.6% vs 3.7% in November) and civil engineering declined (-1.3% vs 2.6%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output went down 0.4%, after a 2% rise in November.
