Currently, about 1.7 million small and medium-sized businesses globally sell through Amazon, of which over 200,000 entrepreneurs exceeded USD 100,000 in sales value in 2019. "Amazon has been supporting Polish customers for many years and helping to sell products of Polish entrepreneurs in our European stores. The next stage is the introduction of the full retail offer for consumers in Poland and it is now time to take this step," Alex Ootes, vice president for development in the EU, Amazon, said.

Amazon has been operating in Poland since 2014. The American Chamber of Commerce announced in 2020 that Amazon is the country's largest U.S. employer and the third-largest U.S. investor. Amazon has created over 18,000 permanent jobs in nine modern logistics centers: in Sady (near Poznań), Sosnowiec, Kołbaskowo (near Szczecin), two facilities in Bielany Wrocławskie, Pawlikowice (near Łódź), Łódź, Okmiany (near Bolesławiec) and Gliwice and at the Amazon Web Services office and at the Amazon Technology Development Center in Gdańsk, which provide innovative solutions supporting Amazon products and services around the world, including Alexa voice solutions.

In 2021, the 10th center in Świebodzin will be launched, where over 1,000 new jobs will be created. Since the start of the pandemic, all Amazon businesses have made employee safety a top priority, investing more than USD 10 billion to achieve this goal.
