The discount retailer will host the three-day event from Dec. 19 to 21 at its store parking lot at Pannónia utca 59–63 in District XIII, welcoming visitors daily from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Shoppers will be able to enjoy classic Christmas market fare at in-store prices, with all proceeds donated to charity.
The retailer said the initiative is in line with its year-round focus on affordability for Hungarian consumers. With the pop-up market, Aldi aims to bring the experience of traditional Christmas fairs closer to visitors at prices significantly lower than usual, while also creating a community-focused festive setting.
Food offerings include flatbread known as kenyérlángos for HUF 399, mulled wine priced at HUF 450 for 0.3 liters, and tea for HUF 200. A hot dog roll with two sausages, braised cabbage and fried onions will be available for HUF 800. Children will be able to enjoy a free carousel throughout the event, adding to the Christmas atmosphere for families.
Beyond low prices, the market will also focus on festive flavors. During the three days, Aldi will organize free tastings of its seasonal food products on site. Visitors will be able to sample fruit-filled milk chocolate cakes, various types of traditional Christmas candy, coconut macaroons, mini and classic panettone, Nuremberg gingerbread, marzipan loaves and assorted almonds, while also getting to know Aldi’s private-label holiday selection. On Dec. 19 between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., visitors can also meet the faces of Aldi’s TikTok channel, including Eszter Veress, first runner-up of Miss World Hungary; Csaba Kenessey, also known as Jürgen; and Jenő Kiss, a bodybuilding world champion.
“The Christmas market season belongs to everyone. With our own market opening on Dec. 19, our goal is to allow anyone to experience this community and family occasion at an affordable price and in a good atmosphere. We will donate the revenue of the three days to charity, because the Christmas spirit is only complete when it also brings joy to others. We are donating the full proceeds to the Hungarian Food Bank, which will use it to provide food donations to people in need,” said Bernhard Haider, country managing director of Aldi Hungary Élelmiszer Bt.
