The facility, inaugurated on June 19, is expected to make a significant contribution to the further development of pharmaceutical supply in northwestern Hungary.
The company opened its new Győr Logistics Center at an official ceremony attended by representatives of healthcare governance, leaders of pharmaceutical organizations, the mayor of Győr, experts involved in the investment and company employees.
The facility was completed after a detailed planning process and 18 months of precise construction. According to the company, the project was finished on schedule thanks to the expertise and intensive cooperation of those involved.
“The new Győr Logistics Center was built with great dedication and care, relying on Phoenix’s professional experience, to serve the pharmaceutical logistics needs of the region at the highest level. I am proud of the work of my colleagues and the external experts involved in the construction, because we have built an innovative facility that meets the strictest quality requirements for pharmaceutical supply. It is a particular pleasure for me that the opening of the new Logistics Center coincides with Phoenix’s 30th anniversary,” said Tamás Kaló, chairman of the board of Phoenix Pharma Zrt., at the opening.
The 6,550 sqm pharmaceutical logistics complex is expected to begin regular operations at the end of August 2026, once the necessary official permits have been obtained.
The new logistics center will play a key role in the pharmaceutical supply of northern Transdanubia, serving pharmacies and hospitals in Győr-Moson-Sopron, Komárom-Esztergom, Veszprém and Fejér counties, and indirectly the population of those regions.
Its proximity to the motorway and expressway network, together with advanced technology and optimized operations, is expected to significantly shorten the time between ordering and delivery of medicines. As a result, pharmacies, hospitals and patients should be able to access the necessary pharmaceutical products more quickly.
Phoenix said it paid particular attention to LEAN principles when designing the logistics center, especially the creation of optimal goods movement routes in the 4,100 sqm warehouse space.
The advanced warehouse technology built into the facility allows up to 1,000 medicine transport crates to be processed per hour, preparing the launch of 32 delivery routes per day.
A high-tech picking machine capable of handling around 1,700 products will independently process about 60% of daily orders. A 114 sqm refrigerated warehouse will house products with special storage requirements.
According to the company, about 100,000 medicines and pharmacy products will be dispatched from the Győr Logistics Center every day.
Sustainability, innovation and predictability were all key considerations in the planning and implementation of the investment.
The A+ energy-rated building is supported by a 260 kWp solar panel system, complemented by a 200 kWh battery storage unit, significantly reducing environmental impact.
The sustainability efforts also extend beyond the building. In addition to planting 90 trees at the site, the company has created a total of 6,000 sqm of grassed area.
“With the opening of the Győr Logistics Center, our goal is to provide high-quality, continuous and safe pharmaceutical supply to pharmacies and hospitals in northern Transdanubia and, indirectly, to the population. We are very pleased that with this investment we can contribute to raising the standard of patient care, as well as to the creation of modern, efficient and reliable pharmaceutical logistics infrastructure,” Kaló said.
