Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said that the initiative is part of Hungary’s “Opening to the East” policy. “Huawei is not only creating jobs here in Hungary, but also contributing to higher education” the minister noted.
Officials in the US, UK, India, Canada and Australia have reportedly raised concerns about Huawei’s security, including charges that the company has assisted the Chinese government in spying on its customers – charges the company denies.
