Output tumbled for manufacturing (-1.6% vs 4.9% in April), primarily attributed to manufacture of basic metals & fabricated metal products, except machinery & equipment and manufacture of machinery & equipment.
Moreover, output slowed for electricity, gas, steam & air-conditioning supply (28.7% vs 32.9%).
Meanwhile, output fell at a softer pace for mining & quarrying (-31.6% vs -39.3%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production dropped by 1.4% in May.
