Slovakia Industrial Output Drops in December

Slovakia's industrial production slumped by 13% year-on-year in December, following a 10.8% fall in the previous month, the Bratislava-based Slovak Statistical Office (SÚSR) said in a statement on Friday.

It was the sharpest decline in industrial activity since May of 2020, as output for the manufacturing sector dropped by 11.4%.

Manufacture of transport equipment, metals, and fabricated metal fell by 14.8%, respectively, while the same of machinery and equipment went down by 10.8%. Production of rubber and plastic dropped by 11.3%, and the manufacture of computer and electronics decreased by 27.1%.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output fell by 0.8%, after a 1% drop in November.

Considering the whole 2022, industrial production shrank 4.7%, reversing a 10.4% growth in 2021.
