Output eased sharply for mining & quarrying (12.8% vs 42.6% in April) and edged down for manufacturing (6.7% vs 6.9%).
Moreover, output tumbled for water supply, sewerages, waste management & remediation activities (-3.3% vs 5.4%) and continued to fall for electricity, gas, steam & air-conditioning supply (-25.8% vs -17.3%).
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production fell 1.3% in May 2024, following a 3.9% rise in the previous month.
