Industrial output was 5.4% lower than a year earlier. The working day–adjusted index was identical to the non-adjusted figure, indicating no calendar effects.
Output decreased in the great majority of manufacturing subsectors compared with November 2024. Among the subsectors with the largest weight in overall production, growth was recorded in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, as well as in the manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco products.
At the same time, significant declines occurred in the manufacture of transport equipment and in the manufacture of electrical equipment. The transport equipment sector, which includes automotive manufacturing, remains a key driver of Hungary’s industrial output, meaning its contraction weighed heavily on overall performance.
Looking at a longer period, industrial production in the first eleven months of 2025 was 3.5% lower than in the same period of 2024, indicating that the sector has yet to recover from last year’s slowdown.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial output was also weaker. According to seasonally and working day–adjusted indices, production in November was 2% below the level recorded in October, reinforcing signs of continued volatility and subdued momentum in Hungarian industry.
