The working-day adjusted index matched the raw figure, confirming the year-on-year contraction. Seasonally and working-day adjusted data, however, indicated a month-on-month rebound.
Production fell in most manufacturing subsections compared with July 2024. Still, output expanded in some key industries: transport equipment, food products, beverages and tobacco, as well as computer, electronic and optical goods. By contrast, electrical equipment manufacturing weighed on the sector, registering a decline.
For the first seven months of 2025, industrial production was down 3.5% compared with the same period of last year, KSH said.
Despite the subdued annual figures, the 2.0% monthly growth offers a sign of stabilization following a weak start to the year, when slowing export demand and uneven energy costs pressured Hungary’s industrial base.
Detailed data on July’s industrial production will be published by KSH on Sept. 12.
