A new HUF 10,000 bill, the first one to get a facelift, will be legal currency from Tuesday September 2. However its broad circulation is only expected to start in December.
The old HUF 10,000 bills will remain in circulation for the time being, until the central bank decides on their withdrawal. Current Hungarian banknotes were first issued in 1997-2001.
