Former president’s Pál Schmitt’s appeal has been rejected by a review committee on the plagiarism scandal and the revocation of his doctorate. The review committee has personally interviewed the former president, but made the same decision as the senate of the Semmelweiss University: the 1992 doctorial thesis of Pál Schmitt didn’t pass either contently or formally. Further complaints are not allowed. On March 29, 2012 the senate revoced Pál Schmitt’s doctorate after a long scandal over plagiarism. Days later, Pál Schmitt resigned as President of Hungary, becoming the first president not to complete his mandate since the change of regime in 1990.
