No reductions in Hungarian staff are planned, it added.
The arrival of temporary workers from China in Debrecen, experts who are making technical and organizational preparations before the launch of production at the battery plant there, may have been the source of misunderstanding, CATL Debrecen said.
Those experts are responsible for training and knowledge transfer with the aim of filling as many positions as possible with Hungarian workers in the long term, it added.
CATL Debrecen remains committed to employing local labor and will make every effort to ensure the biggest number of Hungarians possible are involved in the production process, the company argued.
Headcount in Debrecen has not declined, but increased and recently climbed over 800, CATL Debrecen said.
That expansion is expected to continue in the second half of the year, it added. CATL’s investment in Debrecen is “continuing on schedule”, the company noted, affirming the Chinese battery maker’s commitment to its plant in Hungary.
