The drop at least partly reflects base effects as new vehicle sales started to rise in July 2010 after a long period of decline.
The number of new vehicles registered in Hungary dropped 0.4% yr/yr in June after rising 16.3% yr/yr in May.
The number of new passenger vehicles registered declined 15.4% yr/yr in July to 3,689.
The number of new heavy commercial vehicles registered dropped the most last month, by 51% yr/yr to 168. The number of new buses registered declined 23.3% yr/yr to 23, and the number of new light commercial vehicles registered declined 11.9% yr/yr to 751 last month.
The number of new motorcycles registered rose 2.6% yr/yr to 238 in July.
The number of new vehicles registered in Hungary still rose 7.7% yr/yr to 36,083 in the first seven months of 2011.
Despite the sharp drop in July, the number of new heavy commercial vehicles registered jumped 107.6% to 2,207 in the first seven months of the year, while the number of new light commercial vehicles registered rose 19.2% yr/yr to 5,545 and the number of new passenger vehicles registered rose 3.5% yr/yr to 26,804 during the period.
The number of new motorcycles registered declined 20.5% yr/yr to 1,401 in the first seven months of the year, while the number of new buses registered declined 9.4% yr/yr to 126 during the period.
