The Hungarian Association of Vehicle Importers (MGE) expects the number of new vehicle registrations in Hungary to climb to 76,400 this year from 69,929 in 2012, chairman Peter Erdélyi said at a press conference on Tuesday. MGE sees the number of new passenger car sales rising to 58,000 this year from 53,060 in 2012. Erdélyi said the proportion of used cars between one and five years old fell from 76% in 2008 to 25% in 2012. At the same time, the proportion of cars between eleven and 15 years rose from 5% to 34%. There were 4,171 heavy commercial vehicles sold in Hungary last year. About 80% of these were road tractors. This year, HCV sales are set to reach 4,400 units, said MGE board member István Gyöngyössy.
