The number of new passenger vehicle registrations rose 22.2% yr/yr to 13,964 in January-March, Datahouse said.
In terms of total vehicle numbers, the number of new vehicle registrations rose 7.4% to 6,284 in March, increasing 17.5% to 17,829 in the first three months of the year.
New light commercial vehicle registrations climbed 17.2% to 967 in March. Heavy commercial vehicle registrations were up 6.1% at 312 in March.
Four new buses were registered in March, down 81%. The number of motorcycle registrations was 233, down 9.7% from March 2011.
In January-March 2012, the number of light commercial vehicle registrations rose 19.6% to 2,800, while the number of new bus registrations was down 76.2% at 10. The number of heavy commercial vehicles fell 23.3% to 719 and the number of motorcycle registrations dropped 21.9% to 336 in January-March from a year earlier, Datahouse said.
