The company reported a 13% year-on-year increase in new vehicle sales within its Retail Business Unit in the first quarter, while used car sales surged by more than 57%.
The Retail Business Unit sold 2,731 new cars, up 12.7% from a year earlier, with 520 units attributed to acquisitions made in the Czech Republic and the opening of a new Renault and Dacia dealership in Budapest. AutoWallis acquired the Milan Král Group and three BMW dealerships from NC Auto (Stratos) in 2024. Without these deals, the Retail Business Unit would have reported a year-on-year decline, primarily due to an unusually strong base period. Last year, promotional campaigns by Japanese brands like Toyota, Suzuki, and Nissan boosted sales in the final months of their fiscal year, inflating first-quarter 2024 results.
Used car sales totaled 938 units, a 57.1% increase, with acquisitions contributing 46.1% of the growth. Service hours jumped 60.3% to 80,308, more than half of which was attributable to the new assets brought in through acquisition.
The Distribution Business Unit, which covers wholesale activity across the region, sold 8,145 vehicles in the first quarter—a decline of 5.1% compared to the same period last year. The drop was linked to temporary factors, including delays in the launch and production of the new Opel Grandland and Frontera models. These are expected to positively impact sales in the coming quarters.
AutoWallis’s Mobility Services Business Unit, which handles short- and long-term rentals as well as fleet management, experienced a 2.9% dip in the number of rental events. However, the number of rental days increased by 13.6%, totaling 43,515. The average fleet size during the quarter rose by 2.7% to 3,776 vehicles.
AutoWallis CEO Gábor Ormosy said they will be continuing the implementation of their growth strategy in 2025, exploring opportunities for additional acquisitions and business development while focusing on the integration processes of earlier transactions. The CEO pointed out that the first quarter figures were impacted by one-off effects, but that the achievement of the targets set out in the growth strategy was not at risk. AutoWallis published its updated strategy last spring, with plans to double sales and profits and deliver an international growth story by 2028.
