The system, to enter force on December 14 in Hungary’s second largest city, will allow pass holders for Volán buses and MÁV trains to use the services of municipal transport company DKV, Lázár said, according to MTI

He added that the measure would save residents HUF 5,000-10,000 a month on travel costs.

He noted that students, who paid HUF 5,500 for a monthly DKV pass until now, could purchase an integrated county pass for local and regional transport for just HUF 945.

The minister also explained that the MÁV-Volán group would pay HUF 3.4 billion in compensation to Debrecen for the resulting shortfall in revenue.
