The mayor believes that the timeline is realistic and added that the charge was a condition for European Union support for the construction of the capital’s recently completed number four metro line.
Currently the introduction of such a charge is prohibited by an earlier decision made by Hungarian Parliament, but the mayor expects revisions to be made. The mayor added that technical conditions still need to be assessed and the city’s public transport companies are working on designating zones for the charge.
