According to the daily, the vandalism of the billboard constitutes an “expression of opinion”, given that the two individuals in question referred to their act as a “political message”, and voluntarily took responsibility for their actions by turning themselves in.
The Hungarian government launched a billboard campaign at the beginning of June with the expressed intention of sending messages in Hungarian to immigrants who arrive in the country. It soon sparked a “billboard war” resulting in mock Hungarian party, Two-tailed Dog Party (MKKP) launching a crowdfunded counter-campaign. MKKP leader Gergely Kovács recently said that the party is considering running in the 2018 elections.
