Hungary’s population stood at 10.076 million. According to preliminary KSH data, 8,200 babies were born in January, a one percentage point decline year-on-year, 11,300 people died, down 3.5% from a year earlier and 1,200 married, 3.3% year-on-year decrease. The population decline slowed to 0.36% from 0.4% recorded in January 2005.
