Tourism

A body of industry insiders established to advise the government on tourism policy held its inaugural meeting yesterday, the Ministry of National Economy said in a release on its website.

More than 30 professional organizations, including the Balaton Development Council, the Hungarian Spa Association, the Hungarian Association of Hotels and Restaurants and the Hungarian Association of Travel Agents, were invited to participate at the first meeting of the Tourism Consultation Body, which the Minister of National Economy Márton Nagy heads.

Nagy told the assembled experts that the sector's competitiveness and performance needed to improve and that the government counted on industry insiders' partnership, perspectives and recommendations to achieve that goal.

The body will meet quarterly, according to the report.
