Hotels

IHG Hotels & Resorts announced this week during the Hotco conference its first Holiday Inn & Suites property in Europe with the signing of Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale – part of its Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts brand.

Set to open in late 2026, within a new mixed-use development, the 170-room property will be ideally situated in District XIV district of Budapest, directly above the bustling Puskás Ferenc Stadion metro station and intermodal transport hub.

Facilities at the hotel will include 25 long-stay suites – each complete with kitchenettes, dining area, and sofa beds to cater to the needs of mid-to-long term staying guests as well as families – open lobby, restaurant, lobby bar, meeting room, and fitness center. Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale will be complete with key brand hallmarks including Kids Stay and Eat Free.

The Centrale mixed-use development will further contain a retail hub, a food experience hall, and premium offices, which will complement the hotel and service its guests.

IHG will collaborate with two partners on this project – developers Chain Bridge Ventures Kft. and lease operators Mogotel Hotel Group.

Willemijn Geels, VP development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said, “We’re delighted to have signed Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale – an agreement that brings our first '& Suites' offer to Europe for our Holiday Inn brand, offering a longer-stay option in the heart of the capital. The hotel will be located in a very popular area of Budapest and will provide guests with the perfect base from which to enjoy everything the Hungarian capital has to offer."

"It has been a pleasure to collaborate with our partners Chain Bridge Ventures Kft and Mogotel Hotel Group throughout the development process, and we look forward to turning our collective visions into reality and welcoming guests at the hotel in early 2026,” she added.

Ivans Dokicans, member of the board, head of development Mogotel Hotel Group, noted, “We extend our gratitude to Chain Bridge Ventures Kft and Cushman & Wakefield for their invaluable partnership in the transformative Centrale project. Mogotel is proud to introduce the Holiday Inn & Suites brand to this dynamic hub, enhancing Budapest's urban landscape. Our collaboration with IHG perfectly aligns with Centrale's vision, promising a distinguished hospitality experience within this multifunctional complex."

Michael Gagel, co-founder, Chain Bridge Ventures, commented, “Centrale's location next to Budapest's major sports, entertainment, and exposition venues made a hotel within the scheme an obvious component. With the utmost professional support of David Nath and Felix Nees of Cushman & Wakefield CEE Hotels team, we set out in an operator search process and were very happy to come across Mogotel SA. Mogotel SA immediately understood the site's full potential and partnered with IHG and its Holiday Inn brand. We are delighted to have both operator and brand on board and we are certain that with Centrale's retailing facilities, food experience hall, and public transport hub down below, the Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale will be an exciting place to stay at.”

Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale joins IHG’s growing portfolio of properties in Hungary, including InterContinental Budapest, Holiday Inn Budapest – Budaörs, Crowne Plaza Budapest, Vignette Collection Verno House Budapest, and Kimpton Budapest which is expected to open later this year. The property will also join the 127-key Kimpton Budapest, which is set to open later in 2024.
