Production of TDK-EPC unit in Hungary unaffected by Japan catastrophe for now

Although many of its suppliers are in Japan, production at electronics maker EPCOS, the Hungarian unit of Japan's TDK-EPC, should not be affected significantly by the catastrophe there, EPCOS managing director Balázs Takács told MTI.

EPCOS‘s suppliers in Japan were affected to different degrees by the disaster, Takács said. EPCOS’s plant in Szombathely is operating normally, but the situation could change depending on events in Japan, he added.

EPCOS is in constant contact with its suppliers, he said.

EPCOS employs more than 2,000 people. It invested €2.5-3 million at its base last year and plans a further €16 million of capital expenditures in coming years.
