KSH data reveal that adjusted for calendar effects, the volume of sales rose by 3% in food, drinks and tobacco stores, by 6.9% in non-food retail trade and by 6.1% in automotive fuel retailing.

In the period of January-September, the volume of sales – according to both raw and calendar adjusted data – was 5.9% higher in year-on-year terms.

Calendar adjusted food sales saw a y.o.y. 3% rise in September, non-food sales grew by 6.9% and fuel sales were up by 6.1%, KSH data reveal.

A second reading of data by KSH is scheduled to be published on November 26.

Although the Sunday closure law, a legislation requiring retailers to stay closed on Sundays, came into effect on March 15, more data and time is needed to gauge the effects of the measure, KSH said.
