Analysts expected a trade surplus of €410 million from January.

Exports reached €6.076 billion, up 26.1 from January last year. Imports were €5.676 billion, up 30.2% from a year ago.

The trade surplus for the full year in 2010 was €5.525 billion, up from €3.74 billion in 2009.

Exports increased 20.7% to €71.408 billion for the full year. Imports were up 18.9% at €65.88 billion.

For the whole of last year, export growth in volume terms was 16.8%. Import growth in volume terms was 15.0%.

Last year, volume of exports and imports of Hungary within the European Union both grew by 15%.

Hungary’s terms of trade were practically unchanged last year as the forint firmed 2% to the euro but weakened 3% against the dollar.
