Moriyama confirmed the popularity of Hungarian mangalitsa pork in Japan, and both sides agreed on the importance of the protection of origin and protection of quality, the news agency cited the ministryʼs announcement.
The Hungarian minister asked for restrictions on fruit and vegetable imports from Hungary to be lifted, and reportedly he was promised action would be taken related to his query, the ministry said. Their discussions also included the import of Hungarian game meat, MTI reported.
The Hungarian minister also met with the chairman of Sojitz Foods, a company importing mangalitsa and waterfowl products to Japan. The chairman confirmed the company wants to buy more products from Hungary, MTI reported.
Altogether fifteen Hungarian companies have traveled to Japan to participate in food and beverage expo Foodex 2016.
Fazekas and Shosuke Maki, the chairman of Japanʼs Tohzai Sangyo Boeki, which deals in Hungarian goose and duck liver, discussed the company’s intentions to build a market for these Hungarian products in Japan.
