"Unfortunately, time has run out, we had to decide about this year's Sziget," said Tamás Kádár, the festival's chief organizer. "It is with a heavy heart, but assessing our responsibilities – seeing the many uncertainties, whether in terms of travel, accommodation, hospitality and the role of the certificates of patronage at home and abroad – we have decided to prepare for next year's Sziget instead."
"We are therefore looking forward to the '22 season as we have never looked forward to a festival year before, with plans for events worthy of the 'big comeback' after a painfully long break," he added.
Kádár said that the two years without festivals had made life extremely difficult for organizers, festival-related companies, and workers.
